Witness the Greatest Show on Earth

Imagine millions of wildebeest and zebras forming one vast herd, grunting in unison as they raise clouds of dust in their headlong rush, protecting one another from the surrounding predators. This itinerary takes you right to the heart of the action, where — with a little luck — you will watch the herds risk their lives crossing a river teeming with crocodiles. Not for the faint-hearted!

Beyond the Great Migration, this safari includes a unique ethnic experience: an encounter with the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes at Lake Eyasi — home to one of the last nomadic hunter-gatherer communities on Earth.

Day 8 — Ethnic Tribes at Lake Eyasi

The Hadzabe Tribe: One of the last nomadic hunter-gatherer groups in the world, living near Lake Eyasi in northern Tanzania. They preserve an ancestral way of life based on bow-and-arrow hunting, gathering tubers and fruits, and an egalitarian society passed down orally through the generations.

The Datoga Tribe: Also known as Mangáti in Swahili, this semi-nomadic agro-pastoral and blacksmithing people are of Nilotic speech and are considered the oldest tribe in Tanzania — a proud people with a reputation as the region's fiercest warriors.
